Sailing to the Ends of the Earth

Antarctica beached in Tasmania for a little bottom scrub.

Builder & captain.   35 years sailing and boat-building experience.   100,000 sea miles including over 1000 days of reef navigation prepared me for most things than can happen out there

Physicist & sailor.  Passion for sailing began as a Girl Scout summering in Mystic Seaport.  Enjoyed 4 years at sea exploring the world on our 52 foot aluminum catamaran.

After our last circumnavigation, we spotted a handsome aluminum monohull at Constitution Dock in Hobart, Tasmania.   The boat was built and operated by George Meffre, a famous French navigator who had been working with the Meta Yard in Tarre, France.  Decades before, this boatyard had built Bernard Moitessier's Joshua.  After selling our 52 ft aluminum catamaran, selling our marina in Port Huon Tasmania, and relocating to back to the USA, we decided this vessel would be a perfect match to our sailing ambitions.

Building this vessel was a fantastic experience.   Combining Gerd's decades of boat building knowledge with the energy of a young crew, the boat came together quickly and successfully.  Since launching the vessel, we have enjoyed many years of cruising the Pacific NW.
